The "Less is More" approach to Spring cleaning!

Lately, I’ve been focusing on the “less is more” approach to life. Finding solace in the simpler pleasures and trying to cut-down my carbon footprint while still feeling abundant and fulfilled with all of the things that I enjoy. I decided to start small.

First, I did an entire ‘spring cleaning’ of my apartment while staying positive and focused (even during the routine allergy attack that comes when dust and I go face-to-face). I got large clear storage bins and emptied out my closets and dresser. Then, I put back only the clothes that I love (and fit well), made a pile of clothes to donate, and stored seasonal items (such as warm winter sweaters) in the bins. Next thing I knew, the closet and dressers were organized. I felt instantly lighter and even happier. I love when things are neat and orderly, and I also love when I’m not feeling wasteful. Win-Win!

Once Mission: Spring Cleaning” was underway there was no stopping me. The desk area, bathroom and bedroom felt like a piece of cake. With my physical environment clean, organized, refreshed and de-cluttered I felt an enormous shift in my energy and mood. I looked around my apartment, and believe it or not, even with less I felt like I had more. More of the things I loved, in sight and in their rightful place. I also felt inspired and could feel the creative juices flowing, the same creative juices that just days earlier felt blocked.

This got me thinking about where some of my road blocks have been. I was feeling overwhelmed with all of the clutter that was around me in my closets and even on my desk. My creative roadblocks led to a few days of unproductively. Something needed to be shifted, which is why I decided to start small and in my physical environment because that is where I was feeling out of balance.

By actually taking the time to consciously de-clutter and keep only the things that I love, that energize me and that serve a purpose, I was able to eliminate things that had no use in my life. Therefore, creating the space for new thoughts, inspiration, a few new picture frames here and there, and a delicious Mango Peach Salsa Yankee Candle for my desk! By tackling Mission: Spring Cleaning” (which I was previously dreading) head-on and starting small, I was able to re-organize, re-cycle and even re-prioritize, not only my physical environment but for other things in my life as well! Once again, WIN-WIN all around!

So, go ahead, crank up some GREAT tunes, light a citrus-flavored candle, and get going: de-clutter, organize, eliminate waste, re-prioritize, re-cycle and have fun! Only YOU will reveal how much MORE will come into your life once you CREATE THE SPACE and welcome it in! Less in more, Cheers!
